Review / Release Blitz: The Cabin by Jasinda Wilder

Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jasinda Wilder comes an all-new, emotionally gripping novel, The Cabin, available now!
One year ago, I buried my husband.

One year ago, I held his hand and said goodbye.

Now I spend most of my days lost somewhere between trying to remember every smallest detail of our lives, and trying to forget it all. I fill my hours with work until I’m too exhausted to remember him, to feel anything at all.

One year, 365 days—and then one knock at my door changes everything. A letter from him, a last request, a secret will:

My dearest Nadia,
Trust me, my love. One last time, trust me. Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.

MY REVIEW
Nadia's been through it. Is still in it. Grief that is. Since her beloved husband passed, she's been spiraling in a cycle of grief, and she doesn't know how to get herself out of it. Then she gets something from her husband and it propels her into something that will change her life, if she allows herself to finally accept and let go.

Then comes the moving on part. It's this part that was hardest for me to read. Grief I can read, and understand. It's moving past that's so much harder. How does Nadia do this? Will she do it? What about losing a soulmate can possibly be acceptable? Gah!

In the end I can say I loved this story, though it broke my heart more than a little. This is a story of the entire cycle of loss: from the grief to the numbness to the anger and finally to the acceptance and the moving on. It's moving and beautiful and I'm glad I got the chance to read it even if it hit a little too close to home for my comfort.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
