Hate is a strong word.
Depending on the company, loathe is a good substitute. Abhor might be a little fancy, but it gets the job done. But the word that really sums up how I feel about Liam Darcy is, without question, hate.
He doesn’t seem to think much of me either. The second he lays his fault-seeking eyes on me, he sets out to oppose me. Everything about him is imposing, as if he consumes the nearby air to power the rise and fall of his broad chest, and it’s clear he resents my presence on his advertising team. Every idea I have is shot down. Every olive branch I offer is set on fire by nothing more than the blistering coals he calls eyes.
In return, I light him up with my words.
It’s not as if he can dismiss me, since I work for his client, Wasted Words. Instead, he’s forced to tolerate me, which seems the closest we’ll ever be to friends. Fine by me.
I can be civil and still hate Liam Darcy.
But if there’s more to him than his exterior shows, I won’t be able to hate him at all.
I might stumble over that line between love and hate and fall right into his arms.

MY REVIEW
Laney is the social media marketer for Wasted Words, and she's good, no great, at her job. But when a team is brought in and Laney has to work with them, the very first meeting she has with the head of that team, let's just say, disastrous is an understatement. She doesn't know why Liam seems to hate her, or why he's so disdainful of her and her brother, who is smitten with Liam's adorable sister, Georgie, but she won't put up with it. So what if he gets under her skin, in more ways than one, she'll simply dish his contempt back at him, finish her job then move on once he's gone. Uh huh...
Liam is one of those men who seem put together on the outside. One who radiates cold and control, but on the inside, he's awkward and knows not how to express how really feels. It's that awkwardness, that inability to express himself accurately, that seems to hurt Laney every time he opens his mouth, and he doesn't know how to fix it. Nor does he know what to do with those pesky feelings she arouses in him. Will these two ever take the blinders off and see the way things really are?
A retelling of Pride and Prejudice is scary to contemplate, but I gotta say that Staci Hart handled it with wit and charm. I simply loved Laney and Liam! I may have wanted to smack Liam a time or two (or 10) and even Laney, as the two were so stubborn and refused to see the world the way it really was, but the way they went about it securing their happiness was funny and warm and made me fall in love with them thoroughly. The Bennets and the team at Wasted Words are a world I'd love to live in just so I could feel all the love they have for each other.
