The time was never right before. Now they're on opposite sides of the law... and more in love than ever. But none of that will matter, if they don't survive until morning.

Silent Knight by Layla Reyne is now live!

I won't let anything happen to you.

Fourteen years ago, Braxton Kane's feelings were forbidden.
As an officer, he couldn't fall for an enlisted... no matter how much he longed for Holt Madigan.
Now--as a police chief in love with a digital assassin--his promise to always protect Holt is becoming harder to keep.

I'll protect you.

Holt doesn't understand why his best friend has been pushing him away for months.
But when Brax's life and career are threatened, Holt refuses to allow the distance any longer.
The Madigans protect their own, and Brax is family, whether he believes it or not.

I won't let anything happen to you either.

Forced together, Holt realizes his feelings for his best friend have changed.
His desire to explore the promise their single night together held is undeniable.
His resolve to protect the man who has always protected him is unshakable.
But if Holt wants a future with Brax, he'll have to search and destroy the person who attacked him--before Brax activates the kill switch and sacrifices himself.

MY REVIEW
From the moment Captain Braxton Kane first saw the young private, Holt, years ago, he's been drawn to the big guy. Of course, those feelings were forbidden then, as are anything between an officer and an enlisted. But friendship isn't forbidden, and the two bond while serving in the desert of Afghanistan. Now in their present, Brax is suddenly distant from his best friend. Will Holt push back and find out why Brax is trying to keep him at arm's length? When will he come to the realization that friendship isn't all he feels, all he wants?

Though I haven't read any of the other stories in this series, I could easily see there's a whole complex world filled with characters who know and love each other here in Fog City. Brax and Holt clearly have strong feelings for each other, even before Holt's realization, and I could feel their connection even without having read any of the other stories. I like how tightly connected they are, how close the secondary cast like Holt's family, are, and most of all, I liked Holt and Brax together. The fact that they're friends explains their deep familiarity with each other, and the strong physical connection is just an added layer to their already solid relationship. Altogether a well-written, excellent romantic suspense.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
