Release Date: September 7
A new stand alone enemies-to-lovers romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…
Derek Ballentine and I have always been on opposite sides of everything.
I went to a public Savannah high school. He went to a private Catholic school. I went to Duke on scholarship. He went to UNC as a legacy. When we both end up at Harvard for graduate school and we’re finally on a level playing field, I think it’s all going to change.
I was wrong.
The only thing that changed was ending up in his bed.
Now my grandma has passed away, and Derek is the attorney helping the people trying to steal her legacy. I’ll do anything to stop that from happening. Even take on my lifetime enemy.
I hate him at first sight…but I also want him at first hate.

MY REVIEW
Marley and Derek are just teens when they first meet. To say their first meeting was a meet-"cute" isn't exactly true. More like a meet-"hate" but we'll just go with it. She's public school, he's richie rich. She's a Duke girl and he's UNC all the way. Opposite worlds and all that. He's a jerk and she's not having it. But she does because their attraction is as fierce as their animosity toward each other. But the two can never quite get on the same page, even though making up is quite fun. Cue the present, years later, when Marley finds out just who the attorney is handling her mother's case, the mother who's suing her and her brother over their grandma's will. Yep. The road to love for these two is not going to be easy...
Derek has always had his life mapped out for him - working as a lawyer with his father's firm, making partner some day. A public school girl like Marley shouldn't factor into that plan at all. But there's something about her he can't shake, no matter how many months or years go by between their getting back together then breaking up. But it's when he takes on his newest case that he'll have to make a choice between what he had always thought would be his life, and what truly makes him happy. He'll have to choose between pleasing his parents and love. Which will win out?
Enemies to lovers. Second chance. Opposite worlds. Three tropes I absolutely love - when done right. I'd say K.A. did right by these tropes, because I loved Marley and Derek's story. Though it's angsty af and the relationship is seriously dysfunctional, it's also entertaining, witty and snarky, and hot. Marley is definitely my favorite character, my favorite part, of this story. She's smart, sassy, and tough, and doesn't let Derek mistreat her. Now Derek...I wanted to smack him more than once for his bonehead behavior, and his refusal to figure his shit out. Luckily for him he had a good friend in Ash who had a revelatory talk with him, helping him to realize what (who) was most important. Speaking of Ash, I want his story next (*hint hint*)!
