Strange things are happening to Kat. She's waking up in clothes she doesn't remember putting on. She's getting texts showing her doing things she wouldn't normally do. She's having vivid and bizarre but hot dreams. But are they really dreams? Are the sleeping pills she's been taking really helping her, or are they messing with her mind and her body?
We don't really get the answers to these questions, in fact, even more threads were introduced, without being solved. There are complications in the form of a man who's acting weird, Kat still can't figure out what's real and what's a dream, but the one good thing is that she and Nick have grown ever closer. Their chemistry is molten hot, and Nick especially is doing a lot of growth here. I really cannot wait until November when the conclusion of this excellent trilogy is released (Stronger)!
EXCERPT
Rubbing my belly, taking a sip of some of the best Merlot I’ve ever tasted, I smile over at Nick. “Thank you. This was really good.” He shared his steak, potato, salad, and bread. I didn’t realize how hungry I was until he lifted that silver dome, and the succulent aromas spilled out. Grateful to be wearing such casual clothing, I’m suddenly aware he’s still sporting suit pants and his starched white button-down.
“Do you want to get more comfortable?”
Nick raises a brow, smirking at me.
“I only meant I’m stuffed, but I’m wearing elastic.” I pull at the waist of my leggings for effect. “You’ve been wearing those dress clothes all day.”
“You don’t like my clothes?” he teases. I can tell he’s trying to be extra cautious, not saying or doing anything to make me feel pressured. I don’t want him to walk on eggshells around me. Deciding to lighten the atmosphere, I draw my legs up underneath me on the couch and slowly crawl closer to him. As I approach, I sit up, reach for his dress shirt and begin to unbutton it. As I do, I notice his eyes are starting to sparkle. He jumps up from where he’s sitting and bends down to pick me up. Holding me against him, my legs wrap around his torso as he strides to the bed. He carefully places me at the edge, and I don’t miss the questioning look on his face. The ‘are you sure this is okay’ look.
Nodding, I continue to unbutton his shirt. I look up into Nick’s beautiful hazel eyes. There’s so much reverence in them. I barely get the third button undone before he reaches behind his neck and pulls his shirt over his head, and deposits it at the end of the bed. Nodding slowly, I watch the broad grin that takes over his face. As I start to giggle back at him, I’m startled as he reaches for the hem of my shirt and pulls it over my head.
