Review / Release Blitz: Reckless (Wildrose Landing #3) by Abby Brooks

Release Date: January 31

I thought the proposal was a joke at first. You would too, given the circumstances. Anyone would.

When my brother’s best friend asks me to marry him—right after we fell into bed together!—it’s not for love.

And it’s certainly not because he has his eyes set on a happily ever after.

Oh no.

He wants me to be the future Mrs. Malone because he’s in a bind and “kind of needs a wife.”

But I’ve been head-over-heels, stupid-in-the-brain in love with the guy since I was sixteen. SIXTEEN.

While he’s talking about a business proposal, I’m staring at a dream come true.

Obviously, I should walk away from this crazy idea with my head held high, but when it comes to Jude, I’m weak. I always have been.

Plus, after our drunken rendezvous the night of my brother’s wedding, I’ve got some very real reasons to say yes.

I can get through this with my heart intact…can’t I?

MY REVIEW

Izzy knew better than to let her brother's friend, and her long-held crush, Jude, talk her into anything. She's spent too much time trying avoid him and get over her crush to just revert back to letting him have the opportunity to crush her heart again. But his proposal is something she just can't turn down, even though it's fake and she just knows it's going to end with her being heartbroken AGAIN. What she can do? Agree to the proposal but keep the man at arms' length and try her damndest to keep her heart from falling in love even more. But can that really happen when Jude seems intent on looking at her the way she's always looked at him - with more heat than she's ever felt from him?

Jude's been fighting his feelings for his best friend's sister for a long time now. But he's never done anything about those feelings until one night he needs to ask her to do him the biggest favor he can think of. He doesn't understand why she's so pissed about the proposal he gives her, though, even if it might not have come at the most appropriate of times. But he has faith Izzy will come around. When an unintended but wonderful consequence of that night happens, it will cement that what was a fake relationship is now very real. He will have to make sure he doesn't trample on Izzy's heart again, even if it's unintended.

Oh Izzy, my God, this woman. I felt so much for her. Her heart was just so bared and I knew, as she did, that Jude was gonna break it again, and damn did he! I really liked this story, but I gotta say it's because of Izzy and Brennen and their crew, not because of Jude, who I found to be really weak sauce. Yes, I know he was going through a lot, but his friends were right that he had always had it so easy with everything in life and had never had to fight for anything. I thought he should have fought a lot harder to fix things with Izzy, and he didn't, at all. So for me, I liked this story because of Izzy and because the story itself was entertaining. I could have seen my way to 5 stars if I didn't find Jude such a weak ass hero, definitely not deserving of the amazing Izzy.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
