Review / Release Blitz: Deking the Beauty (Metros Hockey #3) by Crystal Perkins

Deking The Beauty by Crystal Perkins is now live!

From author Crystal Perkins comes an all new fake relationship, older brother's best friend romance set in her Metros Hockey Series.

Santo

I'm the"beauty" of the Seattle Metros. The nice guy who always has a smile for the media and the fans. Until I have an "off day" at an event. Coupled with some on ice accidents, I go from fan favorite to pariah. To help my image, it's suggested I tone down my playboy ways and at least pretend to be in a serious relationship. Even if that fake relationship is with my best friend's little sister.

Nita

I've been in love with Santo since he was the boy next door when we were growing up. He's never seen me as more than his best friend's little sister, but now he needs my help. Being his girlfriend is all I've ever wanted, so a few months with him is like a dream come true. But, the dream turns into a nightmare when things become real between us, and he walks away.

With more than just the two of them to consider, can the Saint overcome his fears about relationships? And can Nita trust him to stay when she needs him the most?

MY REVIEW

Nita's been in love with her brother's best friend and teammate, Santo, since they were kids. Of course, the feeling is not anywhere close to being mutual, and she's had to deal with that. So when the occasion arises for her to be his fake girlfriend, in order to clean up his image, she jumps at the chance. She knows it will only ever be fake, though, so no getting her hopes up, no letting her heart get attached...But what to do when suddenly fake is looking real? When attraction is consummated and things are heading in a direction Nita could only have hoped for? Will her heart get broken when Santo pulls away and she's left to deal with the repercussions on her own?

Nita. Wow, this woman is awesome! She's the best part of Deking the Beauty, by far. She's strong and didn't let Santo's bullshit push and pull make her into a doormat for him, even though she was head over heels with him. She was strong, made mistakes but admitted them and worked to get past them, but she never let Santo make her feel less than when he hurt her horribly. I absolutely loved her. Now Santo, though, is a far different story. I didn't like him or the way he treated Nita. Yes, I understand that he had a skewed view of love and relationships, but it wasn't an excuse for his behavior, and I just couldn't with him. He's the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. Other than him, though, I really liked this story and am really looking forward to more Metros Hockey and the women who bring these hockey players to their knees.

Meet Crystal Perkins
Crystal Perkins has always been a big reader, but she never thought she would write her own book, until she sat down in 2014 and did it. She's now published over 40 books, and has been featured in several anthologies as well.

She lived in Las Vegas for over a decade, where you could find her running author events and winning bookseller. After moving to ND for over a year, she’s back in Vegas again. When she's not reading a few hundred books a year or chasing after her grandson, you can find her watching hockey (Go Knights Go!) and trying to find the perfect shade of lipstick. A mac and cheese connoisseur, she travels the world looking for the perfect version, while attending book conventions and signings as a cover for her research. Poutine research is also conducted regularly on her trips.

Crystal loves hearing from her readers, so please feel free to send her an email, Facebook message, or Tweet! She's also on Instagram, where you can see her monthly reads!

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
