Review / Release Blitz: Dead Draw (Perfect Play #1) by Layla Reyne

Dead Draw by Layla Reyne is now live!

When a marriage of convenience is the only play left...

Special Agent Emmitt Marshall knows how to:
Wear a cowboy hat.
Hack anything.
Win at chess.
Fall in love with emotionally unavailable men.
He even knows the perfect play to catch the terrorists who killed his mentor.

Special Agent Levi Bishop doesn't know how to:
Move on after his wife's death.
Help his grieving son.
Pay off his mountain of debt.
Fix the mess some cowboy cyber agent made of his case.
The same cowboy who proposes a marriage of convenience to stop a common enemy.

Marsh is either the answer to Levi's prayers—or a handsome nightmare in a Stetson.
Levi doesn't know.
But both men do know their cases and lives are at a dead draw.
There's only one play left...
I do.

MY REVIEW

Marsh messed up, big time, bumbled an op even though he thought he was helping. So blackmailing Levi into a marriage of convenience will fix his screwup, right? Or will it just give the two a way to channel their developing feelings into something much more than a convenience?

I love the marriage of convenience trope, and when it's filled with tension and some suspense as it is here in Dead Draw, even better. Marsh and Levi had obvious chemistry, and I was rooting them on, just waiting for them to admit their feelings. I have to admit I wasn't expecting this to be just a part 1 of a series, though, so the ending did not make me very happy, knowing I have to wait for Bad Bishop to get answers and resolution.

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...

You TV series

Wow, hubby and I watched You on Lifetime last night. It was creepy and suspenseful. Hubby likened it to Dexter , and I have to agree. Penn Badgley was on point - creepy, stalkery, but fascinating. I didn't think too much of Elizabeth Lail's acting, but I'm not sure if it was just that her character was bland, or if it was truly bad acting. Can't wait for next week!
