Sam wasn't the kind of girl that wanted a ring on her finger. After watching her parents both burn through relationships at record pace, she knew they never lasted. A quick roll in the sheets was fun and, most importantly, uncomplicated. Besides, school was enough of a commitment for now. So, when the stranger she sits next to in the bar on her twenty-first birthday seems to come with no strings, she follows him home.

Dean can’t believe his good fortune when his boss stands him up in the bar. The girl sitting next to him is definitely a step up. But when she’s gone the next morning, he figures that’s that. One night stand? No problem. Until he walks into his college classroom and she's there. Waiting for his lecture.

Is convincing Sam that they could be amazing together worth screaming mice, girl fights, blizzard parties, and a demonic shower? If Dean has his way, it is.

MY REVIEW

Sam's one night stand was supposed to be just that - one night. But when her newest professor turns out to be...yep, you guessed it, will Dean end up become much more than just one night to her? Only if this commitment phobe can get out of her own head and let him in.

Dean's always done what his parents wanted. He has to maintain the family image after all. But when he meets Sam, he just knows his parents are going to look down their noses at her. Not only is she a lot younger, a college student, but she's not from an equally or more, wealthy family. Now he's faced with a decision: take control of his own life and be with Sam, or let her go and conform as he's always done.

This story was a bit hard for me to decide on a rating. On one hand, I love the professor trope. But it really wasn't the main theme here. Sam is sweet, a bit damaged, but likable. She has a bad role model in her mother, so her commitment issues are understandable. Dean is sweet, too, but way damaged, and the manner in which his father's abuse was handled was really less than satisfying for me. It was kind of swept under the rug, and really took most of my enjoyment away. So, a decent story, but kind of flat, and not that satisfying, so 3 stars is what I came up with.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
