Review / Release Blitz: Doctor of the Heart (Men of Mercy #1) by Grace Maxwell

Release Date: September 9

He’s a billionaire doctor with a supportive family. I’m an artist who can’t keep a day-job while taking care of my little sister. We’re opposites in every way.

My BFF and I are going out to meet men. Lots of men!

I’ve been focused on other more important things, but when my best friend insists we do something fun, I give in. It’s been a long time. Did I mention I even needed to dust off my Jimmy Choo’s?

His chocolate brown hair and piercing dark eyes find me in line outside the club, and my stomach does cartwheels. Yes, he puts the yum in yummy.

It gets us in and when we connect, it’s fireworks—my heart beats triple time, and I’m doing something I never dreamed was in my DNA.

It was only a onetime thing. I knew we weren’t star-crossed lovers. We were quick, down, and dirty.

Then it was back to real life—bills, keeping a roof over our head and food on the table, all while dealing with my sister’s chronic illness.

When my sister takes a turn for the worst, we head to the emergency room and my jaw drops and not because the doctor is dressed in a tuxedo. It’s because it is him.

We are opposites in every way. Dr. Davis Martin saves my sister’s life and somehow he’s out to save mine.

Doctor of the Heart is a stand-alone, steamy romance with a happy ending. It is the first in the Men of Mercy series.

MY REVIEW

Paisley's out at a club, convinced by her friend to finally enjoy a night of just fun, when she meets a gorgeous guy who gets them into the VIP section. They have an instant connection, but Paisley's got such a complicated life that she can't help but know she's over her head with this guy, so she leaves without letting him know how to find her after. But that complicated part of her life soon has her in his orbit again when her extremely sick sister is rushed to the ER and the gorgeous guy turns out to be Arabella's cardiologist. Now that Davis has Paisley back in his life, there's no way he's letting her go again. He just has to chip away at the walls she has around her heart, walls built of extreme independence, stubbornness and the sheer determination to care for her little sister.

Davis has never been affected by a woman the way he is by Paisley. He knew when he met her at the club that she was going to be his. When she disappeared without word, he was lost, but now that he's found her again, he plans on keeping her, forever. Her and her adorable, very sick sister. He'll heal Arabella, protect her, and Paisley, from the worst part of their lives - their mother. He has the resources, and the love, to do so, he just has to make sure their mother doesn't do something so horrible that everything ends in tragedy.

For a debut novel, Doctor of the Heart is great! Paisley, Arabella, and Davis are such a wonderful trio. Paisley is such a sweetheart, and has the biggest heart, all for her sister, and then Davis. And Davis...oh boy but he's a swoony doctor, loving, so in love with Paisley and Arabella, and seriously sexy. I loved them together, and am excited to read more as this author brings us more in the Men of Mercy world.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
