Blurb
From USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Yarros comes a small town, single parent romance.

Nine years ago, Weston Madigan saved me. I came to Colorado penniless, heartbroken, and pregnant, searching for a fresh start. Weston gave me a job at his family’s resort, then left the next day and never returned, not even to visit.

Then I stumble in on Weston cooking breakfast shirtless—gloriously, inappropriately shirtless—in the shared kitchen of my duplex in employee housing. Given the shock on both our faces, he wasn’t expecting a roommate either, let alone two.

The growly pilot is only home to start his family’s new heli-skiing operation. I can handle being his temporary roommate, right? Chemistry and attraction aren’t impossible to ignore when you agree on ground rules. Besides, even with those gorgeous, brooding brown eyes, the guy is a walking thundercloud…until my daughter, Sutton, makes him laugh and he smiles at me. Then everything changes. Cue inconvenient heart flip.

This is only temporary.
I can’t fall for Weston.
Will. Not. Fall. For. Weston.
But rules go out the window when you’re a little too close.

MY REVIEW

Weston's coming home. Not so willingly, but still, he's coming home to the place he never really wanted to come back to. His brother needs his help, but Weston and Reed don't have the best relationship so he's really not that sure this is the best idea. But coming back, finding out he's going to have two roommates, one of whom is a gorgeous Callie, yeah, all this forced proximity is suddenly looking a lot more appealing. As long as they can abide by their own rules, they'll be fine. Right?

Callie's new roommate is the man who rescued her. She came here to Madigan Mountain broke and pregnant, and he hired her but left right after. She's spent the time since into making a life for her daughter and herself. Men don't factor into her plans, but when Weston comes waltzing into her life again, she can't help but fall for the closed off but sweet man who gets along so well with her daughter Sutton. But if Weston is anything, he's scarred from his past, and not open to love or commitment. She'll just have to make sure she doesn't hand him her heart on a platter or anything stupid like that...

Oh Weston...damn, this guy broke my heart. He was holding so much pain, so much resentment toward his father, his brother, and his hometown. He had closed himself off to everyone but his team and closest friends, that letting a new person in seemed ridiculous. Thank God for Callie and Sutton. They came along and brightened his life and snuck under his skin, giving him something other than his job to care about. I loved the first installment of this series, about Reed and Ava, but Callie and Weston's story is even better. The way they fell for each other without admitting it, the way Weston fought it so hard, was hard to read but made the ending so much better. This trio is now my favorite Madigan Mountain story, and I can't wait for Crew's story, A Little Too Wild.

Title: The Challenge: A Single Dad Romance Author: Penelope Ward Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance Tropes: Single Dad, Second Chance, Forced Proximity Friends to Lovers, Small Town, Found Family Release Date: August 30, 2026 BLURB From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE contemporary romance… Nothing says welcome home like accidentally moving in with your first heartbreak…and his little girl. Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...

You TV series

Wow, hubby and I watched You on Lifetime last night. It was creepy and suspenseful. Hubby likened it to Dexter , and I have to agree. Penn Badgley was on point - creepy, stalkery, but fascinating. I didn't think too much of Elizabeth Lail's acting, but I'm not sure if it was just that her character was bland, or if it was truly bad acting. Can't wait for next week!
