About the Book
The problem with Wake was that he was understandable. He was the type of villain that literally scared the absolute shit out of you because you knew that under the right circumstances, you could end up exactly like him.
Which, sadly, was the case for me.
I’d done the exact same thing as Wake, and now I was a murderer just like him.
Did I know that I did wrong? Hell yes.
Did I regret that? Hell no.
Did I plan on changing a thing? Also, no.
Was I falling in love with a man that should scare the shit out of me? A resounding hell yes.

MY REVIEW
Dutch needs help figuring out how to get away with something and there's only one person she can think of who can help her do it. All she has to do is convince her brother, a prison guard, to let her go to his prison and visit one of the inmates so she can convince Wake to help her. Will he do it? And what will the consequences be if not only does he help her, but she actually goes through with it?
Wake is a good man who did a bad thing for the right reasons. Unfortunately, he got caught and has had to serve his debt to society as a consequence. When he gets a letter asking for his help, then a visit from this woman, he's intrigued, and fascinated by her. She's in a situation he can relate to, so the last thing he'll do is turn her down. He had no way of knowing that this meeting with her would completely change his life.
I was so sad when the Battle Crows MC series ended, but meeting Wake and Dutch in the last of that series, Never Trust the Living, gave me high hopes when it became clear that they would be starting a new series. And of course Lani did not disappoint with their story. It's everything I've come to expect from her - an intriguing mystery, a lovable couple with quirky shenanigans and lol humor, steamy af chemistry, and an excellent secondary cast, whose stories I am dying to read now.
