Review / Release Blitz: This Woman (This Man - The Story from Jesse #1) by Jodi Ellen Malpas

This Woman by Jodi Ellen Malpas is now live!

Jesse Ward has stumbled through life drinking and indulging himself within the rooms of his high-class sex club, The Manor, numbing himself to the pain, grief, and guilt of his wrongs. Pleasure and alcohol are his medicine. Hedonism is all he knows.

It's how he copes.

How he survives.

Until Ava O'Shea strolls into his office and knocks him back with her breathtaking beauty, ambition, and drive. It only takes one look into her eyes, one touch of her skin, and one word murmured, before his heart is kick-started, offering him something he never thought possible. A distraction from his daily torment. A semblance of peace.

Women never reject Jesse Ward. They fall at his feet, melt from his charismatic, devious smile, and obey his every salacious command. All except the one woman who unwittingly becomes his obsession and the only thing that can keep him from the brink of self-destruction.

He needs Ava and will do anything to have her.

Even hide every last skeleton in his large closet.

Because the truth could destroy them both.

MY REVIEW

Jesse takes one look at the new interior designer hired to design The Manor, and he's a man obsessed. Now to claim her and get her to admit she feels the same obsession. He just can't ever tell her how broken he is, or what The Manor really is, because he knows those things will make her leave, just like everyone he's loved has done.

Ava doesn't understand just what it is she does to the intense man in her life. He's always telling her that she drives him crazy, but she doesn't know why or how except that her defiance and mouth seem to really set him off. He's controlling, angry, and bossy af, but there's something about him she's drawn to. She wants to understand him, but he's not exactly about baring his soul, and it makes her very unsure just what it is they're doing together. And she may never know because after that doozy of a cliffhanger, damn...

This retelling of the story makes it seem like a whole different story. I honestly can say that Jesse is quite difficult for me to like and he deserved to be smacked so many times for his behavior. But, and it's a big but, his demons are what control him and they're what make me feel for him. I don't like him but I feel for him, and I'm rooting him on. Hopefully in With This Woman the two get on the same page, he gets a second chance to redeem himself, and they find some peace with each other.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
