Review / Release Blitz: Drama King (Three Kings #2) by Penny Reid

Snowed in with her off-limits celebrity client. What could go wrong?

Drama King, an all-new forced proximity, mistaken identity, romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Penny Reid, is now available!

Stuck with her off-limits, taciturn, hunky movie star client during a sudden snowstorm on Christmas Eve, an extremely capable and highly professional bodyguard must keep him alive and warm without letting the tension building between them get too hot.

Bathsheba (Beth) Ryan can’t thank her best friend enough for helping her land the job of her dreams. After being relegated to second-string security for politicians in DC, being hired as an undercover personal security specialist by a giant Hollywood studio is exactly the kind of action she’s always wanted.

Until she meets her first assignment.

Cyrus Malcom can’t thank his agent enough for arranging a blind date with seemingly the woman of his dreams. After spending the past several years playing all the parts and climbing all the ladders, the lonely mega movie star finds himself actually enjoying a night on the town for the first time in ages when he meets the gorgeous, funny, and genuine Ryaine O’Rourke.

Until she shows up at his studio meeting the next day with a completely different name.

A world-wide press tour and too many late-night parties later, Beth simply needs to get through a short, one-day visit during the Christmas holiday, and then she’ll be free of Cyrus Malcom’s confusing hot looks and cold shoulders for good.

But just as they leave the airport, it starts to snow . . .

‘Drama King’ is the second book in the Three Kings Series, is a full-length, contemporary romantic comedy, and can be read as a complete standalone.

MY REVIEW

Bathsheba (Beth) cannot believe, but really shouldn't be so surprised, that her new client is the man whom she had a very unfortunate meet cute with last night. He looks as surprised as she, but all she has to do to fix it is tell her boss so she can get re-assigned. But does she really want that for her first big job with the studio? Perhaps she can stick out the months long contract. And maybe she could have if her heart hadn't gone and done a thing with adorable, sweet and gorgeous Cyrus.

Cyrus wants Beth. Wants her like he's never wanted anyone or anything else. But he can't have her. She isn't interested in anything but a cold, professional relationship with him. She doesn't blush the right way like all the other women around him do, including the rest of his security team. No, she blushes with anger and condescension. So why does he keep trying to rile her up? To get a reaction from her? Will his hero ever open herself up enough to let him in, even a tiny bit? Perhaps when they get stuck together after being snowed in, her heart will melt the way his did all those months ago when he first laid eyes on her.

Cyrus is adorable and I want him for myself. OK, now that I've gotten that out of the way...his and Beth's slow burn story is all kinds of wonderful - sweet, heartfelt, with two amazing leads and a whole equally amazing surrounding cast. I may have wanted to shout at both of them to get themselves together and just talk, which would have saved them both a lot of pain and frustration, but the way they fell in love was just so sweet and a tad spicy that I couldn't help but love them both. Though this isn't a true holiday romance, as it spans several months, not just winter/holidays, it is really a great way to get anyone in the holiday mood.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
