Review / Release Blitz: Truly You (Luna Harbor #4) by Claudia Burgoa

Release Date: January 10

A workplace fling is flipped on its head after one life changing phone call in this emotional and heartbreaking romance by USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Claudia Burgoa.

I thought I had been through it all. Spoiler alert: I was wrong.

After my ex walked out on me and straight into someone else’s arms, I decided to focus on myself. I didn’t know who I was or what I wanted out of life, but I was finally looking.

I moved to a new town and became the manager of a brewery, where I met Iskander. The chemistry between us was undeniable and we quickly fell into a pattern. We became friends with benefits…lots of benefits. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun in my life.

But after one phone call, everything changes.

My best friend is fighting for her life.
I might become a single mother to a toddler I barely know.
I may have to leave Luna Harbor.

Iskander signed up for fun and games, not an emotional rollercoaster. Besides, a child is too much to ask.

But if that’s true, why can’t he leave me alone?

***

Truly You is an angsty, ugly cry standalone romance full of raw emotions and unconditional love. Claudia Burgoa brings the right amount of heat, desire, and intimacy kink for a truly inspiring romance.

MY REVIEW

Siobhan's run-in with a gorgeous stranger ends up with her getting what she really needed - a beautiful lust filled night with no strings. Until she realizes exactly who the man is, what his last name is. Now she's faced with the possibly of getting fired, all because she didn't want to exchange names with the best encounter she'd ever had. But would Iskander's family really fire the best person to ever happen to their brewery? Iskander better fix this one!

Iskander's once again been called to help his family. So he's in Luna Harbor and he resents it, resents having to do once again for his siblings. Then he meets a stunning woman and offers her the only thing he's capable of - a no strings, no emotions night. But she's not just some stranger as he finds out, she runs his family's brewery and his grandfather adores her. What to do? Well, as Iskander's wont to do - offer her more of the same, no strings physical friends with benefits. There will be no falling in love, no commitment, no real relationship because he's simply not capable of these things. Or isn't he? He just may find out he is, but it may be too late by the time he takes his head out of his ass because now Siobhan's the one pulling away, wanting nothing to do with him. She's ghosted him in fact, and it's on him to fix the mess he's made.

I have some mixed feelings about Iskander and Siobhan's story. On one hand, it's full of delightful characters in this equally delightful small town, and Siobhan's front and center in this. Their chemistry is sizzling and instantaneous and the feelings are obviously (to everyone but Iskander) there. But, and this is the big but, their story felt rushed and sort of incomplete. It's not horrible, actually it's fully rounded in that there's a beginning, middle, and end, but the development of their relationship just wasn't fleshed out the way I prefer. They literally went on for 3 years of no strings then bam, she's gone and Iskander has to fix it. He does redeem himself, and I felt for him once it was explained why he was such a commitment phobe, but I never fell in love with him the way I usually do with Claudia's heroes. Siobhan saves him, and the story, though, from a lower rating because she's so awesome. I wish there was more of them as a true couple, and that their relationship had been more developed, but as it's written, this is still a good story that showcases what a strong character Siobhan is.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
