“My So-Called Sex Life is the enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine story I didn’t know I needed until I met Hazel and Axel…The humor, the banter, and the evolution of their enemies to friends to lovers is heartwarming and fun to experience.” ~ FaveyList on Goodreads

BLURB
I’ve got a list of people I absolutely don’t ever want to be stuck with on a boat, or a plane, or a train, and it starts and ends with the broody, grumpy, too-sexy-for-my-own good Axel Huxley.

Also known as this romance novelist’s number one nemesis.

The man is legendary for his mighty pen and his even mightier scowl. I tried to work together with the cocky thriller writer once upon a time, but the two of us are like vodka and good decisions. We don’t play well together.

Only now, our publishers are sending us on a joint trip across Europe to mingle with our most devoted readers on an old-fashioned luxury train. And thanks to a booking snafu, we have to share a sleeper car.

You guessed it--there's only one bed.

I'm not sure I can survive the next seven days and nights with my dangerously sexy enemy and all our fiery tension.

Which explodes one night in a desperately needed hate bang.

But the bigger plot twist is this – the more time we spend together, visiting the most romantic cities in Europe by day and discovering each other at night, the more I’m forced to face our past.

To let go of the hurt.

To see the man he’s become.

And when I do, I wonder if it’s too late to write a new happy ending for us?

My So-Called Sex Life is a standalone MF romantic comedy!

MY REVIEW

Hazel and Axel were once friends and writing partners. It all ended, rather abruptly, and now the two can't be in the same room without snarking and sniping at each other. Now they're being forced into rather closed confines together and they've got to rein in the snark and try to act like they can stand each other. And write together again? Can these two once friends travel together and not break each other's hearts again?

Axel's never told Hazel why he withdrew from their friendship, from her life. He's always had his walls up, but being near her again has them higher and stronger than ever. He underestimated his feelings (and hers) though, and now he's falling under her spell again. Will he stop running long enough to tell her how he feels? Or are they doomed to never be on the same page?

Damn are these two a pair. Lots of tension, lots of snarky banter, and so much chemistry that is obviously masking much stronger feelings than either had ever been ever willing to admit. One bed of course always gets the best of people when feelings are involved, and there was no way Hazel and Axel were going to be the couple who could resist the close confines they found themselves in. These two writers are perfect for each other, and I was rooting them on with every jab, every snarky word that they threw at each other.

Title: The Challenge: A Single Dad Romance Author: Penelope Ward Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance Tropes: Single Dad, Second Chance, Forced Proximity Friends to Lovers, Small Town, Found Family Release Date: August 30, 2026 BLURB From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE contemporary romance… Nothing says welcome home like accidentally moving in with your first heartbreak…and his little girl. Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...

You TV series

Wow, hubby and I watched You on Lifetime last night. It was creepy and suspenseful. Hubby likened it to Dexter , and I have to agree. Penn Badgley was on point - creepy, stalkery, but fascinating. I didn't think too much of Elizabeth Lail's acting, but I'm not sure if it was just that her character was bland, or if it was truly bad acting. Can't wait for next week!
