MY REVIEW
Harper has moved on with her life and come back home to open a dance studio with her friend. Yes, it means she'll have to run into the boy, now all man, who broke her heart years ago, but she can handle it because everyone else, including his daughter, loves her and have welcomed her with open arms. Jake's grumpy asshole behavior is no match for Harper's determination to live her best life. And when his daughter bonds with her, she knows there's no way she's letting Jake scare her away.
Jake's reason for pushing Harper away back then is now the most important person in his life. So for her sake, and for his, he'll keep pushing Harper away. Until he can't. Until he can't resist making a play for the love of his life. He may have had his head up his ass when she first moved back, but now that the blinders are off, he's going to make her his, his and his daughter's.
Second chance love stories are some of my favorites. But only if the couple deserves that second chance, if each of them has done the work to prove that they deserve that person's love again. Jake and Harper truly, truly deserve their second chance. Harper is a sweet, sassy sunshine that I just wanted to hug and high five every time she put Jake in his place. The love she quickly formed with Sydney is actually my favorite part of this story. They were a unit from their very first meeting and I fell in love with them both. It took awhile (a long while) before I could get behind Jake because of his grumpiness with Harper, but I knew that at heart he was a good one because of the way he loved his adorable daughter, so I was willing to give him a chance and see if he could make me fall in love with him. By the end I had fallen hard, and I can safely say now that he's one of my favorite guys in all of Harloe's writing. He, Harper and Sydney make the cutest of families, I wish Harloe would write them a second chapter *hint hint*.
