Grumpy single dad Caleb cannot resist his daughter's new horse trainer, the free-spirited, opposite of him ray of sunshine, Paisley. Oh he tries to resist her, push her away with his grumpy stoicism, but when dark meets light, light has a way of winning out. Throw in the fact that his adorable daughter loves her, and Caleb really doesn't stand a chance. The only thing standing in their way are the secrets of his past, and the damage they've done to his soul.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, A.L. Jackson writes like a lyrical poet. Her words flow in patterns that always get me right in the soul. Caleb, Paisley and Evelyn's story is so beautiful and heart-rending. I love the contrast between broody grump Caleb and feisty sunshine Paisley. Their snark and witty jabs are pure entertainment, their chemistry is positively delicious, and their emotional connection and the way they fell so hard for each other in the face of all of Caleb's baggage - 5 stars for Caleb and his Reckless Angel.
