When Veronica receives a text right before her wedding, it means she's now homeless, jobless and left with nothing but the gown on her back. What to do? Well, stay in this small town where she was to get married, and try to find her way. Find it she does when her new diner friends help her find a lead on a nanny job. Too bad she has no child care experience, no car, and no cooking experience. And really too bad her potential new boss is a gorgeous grump who apparently wants nothing to do with her or hiring her to watch over his adorable kids.
Austin needs help with his kids, but this woman, this beautiful woman with no experience is not going to be that help. No matter that his sister is intent on hiring her, helping her, no matter that his kids have fallen in love with her in short time, she's not for him. But maybe this ray of sunshine really is for him, really is the piece they've all been missing in their lives. Maybe if he can open up his heart, he can have it all.
I always love Melanie's writing, but this time around, I think I love it extra. Veronica, my God, that woman has really been through it, but she's so strong, hasn't let her circumstances turn her into a bitter, negative person. She really is a warm sunshiney sweetheart, the absolute perfect person for not just grumpy Austin, but for his children, too. And speaking of Austin...whew! A man who works with his hands is hot, when he's a grumpy pants on the outside but a big softy on the inside, he's even more delicious. I can't remember the last time I loved a grumpy/sunshine couple more than Veronica and Austin.
