Clover had no way of knowing that the man she had the hot elevator encounter with is the man taking over her cheating ex husband's company, the man who suspects she's in cahoots with her ex and has stolen money from said company. Did he tell her who he was when they were stuck in the elevator together? Of course not. Did he perhaps get it wrong, suspect an innocent woman? And more importantly, will Clover ever forgive him and give him a chance at stealing her heart?
Joar has never met anyone quite like Clover, never been so viscerally affected by a woman before. Before meeting her, he was so sure she was conspiring with her ex. Now that he's gotten to know her, even if it was one time, he realizes how wrong he is about her. But the damage is done, he wasn't honest with her and now she's blocked him and won't take his calls, return his texts, or even agree to meet with him. What's a determined man to do when the woman he knows is his soulmate won't give him a shot at redemption?
Clover is amazing! She transforms from a dejected woman who had given up her career to support a shitty husband, to a woman who knows her worth, knows she deserves better than a jerk like her ex, better than a dishonest man with an agenda like Joar, and deserves better than what she had been subjected to earlier in her career. When Joar comes to her seeking a second chance, she doesn't let him treat her like she's a second class citizen, she makes sure he knows she deserves the world. And once he took his head out of his ass, Joar realizes just how amazing she is, and whew, his determination to get that second chance is HOT! Their chemistry is so hot my Kindle practically exploded, and their emotional connection grew so strong I knew they'd get that second chance Joar begged for. I cannot wait for more of this author's writing now because Clover and Joar have made me a huge fan.
