Bad Luck Charm by Julie Johnson is now live!

GWENDOLYN GOODE LIVES A CHARMED LIFE.

As owner of an occult shop in downtown Salem, Massachusetts she's accustomed to all things odd and otherworldly. But when a bloody animal sacrifice is left as a warning outside her place of business, the police seem to think Gwen might be the target of some truly evil-doers. Suddenly, her sunny existence is riddled with danger in the form of crazed pagans, rogue employees, and nefarious henchmen. And there's only one man who can protect her until the storm passes...

GRAHAM GRAVES HAS NO TIME FOR WITCHY NONSENSE.

Not in his love life, and definitely not in his line of work. Despite the ever-present oddities of his hometown, the private investigator and acclaimed police consultant prides himself on staying objective in every case that comes across his desk. That all changes when Gwendolyn — a woman who gets under his skin like no other — finds herself in the crosshairs of dangerous criminals. Graham is determined to make her safe, even if her presence tests his steely resolve. But as their mutual dislike sizzles into unexpected attraction... he becomes even more determined to make her something else:

HIS.

MY REVIEW

Gwen's finally in a good place. She's inherited a business and has her best friend. Then a killing in front of her business puts everything in jeopardy, and even worse, brings her nemesis into her orbit in such a way that she can't avoid him the way she has been. Owning a business in Salem seems to be bringing witchy paranormal twists along with her least favorite person.

Gwen is fabulous! She's sassy, sweet, and adorable. Her banter with Graham is hilarious, snarky, and had me actually laughing out loud. The steam is of the slow burn kind until the end when it catches fire. Really the only thing I don't like about this charming rom com mystery is Graham's tendency to steamroll right over Gwen's defiance. He literally kisses her to shut her up, which isn't cool even though it may sound like it should be. Plus he calls her a bitch, which is absolutely never cool, and disregards her feelings nearly all the time, when she disagrees with him. So the 4 stars are for Gwen, the awesome dialogue, and the laugh out loud shenanigans combined with a cozy type mystery.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
