MY REVIEW
Jessica's been exonerated for her abusive ex's murder, and is finally seeing the light of day after being in prison for 5 years. She's starting over in a small town in Oregon, and is trying to get away from anyone who used to know her or would recognize her. Understandably, she's distrusting and suffers from PTSD. But when she meets Troy, he recognizes her symptoms and just wants to help. If he can get past her walls, they can become friends, and even more if Troy has his way.
Troy may be the type who likes to rescue people, as Jessica accuses him of when they first meet, but it's not a bad thing. He really truly just wants to help ease some of the fear and pain he sees in her eyes, and knows he has to tread very lightly so as not to spook her. If she'll just let him in a little, they could have something beautiful.
OK, to start - just a cliffhanger warning. Yep, the dreaded cliffie, and it's more than a doozy! But once I got past my serious dismay at this, I was able to appreciate this beginning part of their story for what it is - an emotional study of one woman's starting over, on a very tentative path to healing. I felt so for Jessica and all she had been through, is still going through. Thank God she chose this small town to start over, because she was welcomed very warmly by Troy and his whole crew. Plus, there's an added, very intriguing, historical spy story that I'm just as anxiously waiting for the next episode as I am for Jessica and Troy's.
Meet Stina Lindenblatt
Michelle’s love affair with romance began the summer before high school when she discovered her mom’s Harlequin collection. The feeling of joy from experiencing those happily-ever-afters has stayed with her ever since.

When she’s not writing, reading, or voicing a novel, Michelle spends most of her time hanging out with her favorite humans. With marriages and babies and puppies, the boisterous group seems to grow every year, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
