MY REVIEW

Afton is finally coming home, years after she ran out on her family's old fashioned marriage pact. Her friend, the man she was supposed to marry, is marrying his real love, and Afton wants to see her friends declare their commitment to each other. And perhaps, see her own true love, Hamish, the man who's always been off-limits to her.

Hamish needs help. He's feeling so out of his depth now that his mom is away helping his grandma. He needs a nanny for his pre-teen daughter, and stat. Then Afton comes home and his daughter Freya forms this connection with her. Can he really ask Afton to be her temporary nanny, shortly after he rejected her feelings?

I've wanted to get Afton's story this whole series, and now that I've gotten it, I'm sad it's all over. Afton is quite simply, amazing. Though she says she made the selfish decision to gamble away her estate, I don't think of it really as selfish, especially considering the way it all worked out for everyone. She had her whole family's legacy resting on her young shoulders, I can't believe she hadn't crumbled long before that with all the pressure she was under, and no one there to really look out for her but herself. Hamish too had no one around to look out for him, and had put so much pressure on himself, thinking he had to be perfect, had to always win every case, be everything to everyone. Two wounded souls who finally find love with each other, with their friends and family around to give a helping hand, a pep talk or two, and to absolve them of the guilt both were carrying - this is a heartfelt, beautiful way to end this wonderful series.

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
