Review / Release Blitz: The Flirt Alert (Spicy Standalones #2) by Kaylene Winter

The Flirt Alert by Kaylene Winter is now live!

The Flirt Alert is a scorching, standalone, billionaire, enemies to lovers, best friend’s brother, forced proximity, STEM workplace, HEA romance.

When a man who has everything will do anything to ease the pain of the incredible woman who’s living with a timebomb.

My best friend’s twin, Shay Stojanović, is my ultimate gamer dream girl come to life.

Gorgeous, flirtatious and popular, she didn’t know I existed.

Until one fateful night, she made this nerd’s every fantasy come true.

The next day she blew me up like a frag grenade.

Years later, Shay’s brother and I have built a billion dollar gaming company.

He had the nerve to give his shady sister a coveted executive role.

Oh, I’m not going to make it easy on her—she’ll quit. You’ll see.

Everything’s going exactly to plan...

Until we get stranded at the top of a mountain.

And I learn the truth.

Now I can’t—and won’t—resist her.

She has a lot to overcome.

And I’m just the man to soothe her hurt.

It’s Shay’s turn for a flirt alert.

MY REVIEW

Austin is not happy that his business partner Miles has just handed Miles' twin sister Shay a job at the gaming company they own. She broke his heart back in high school and he has never gotten over it, or forgiven Shay. No matter, he'll just make her life so difficult that she'll quit. Easy right? Or not, because his broken heart still loves Shay, and forced proximity and one bed will have these two giving into their feelings again.

For a heartwarming story, The Flirt Alert also delves into some heavy issues, too, what with Shay's medical condition and Austin's insecurities and vulnerability. But both are handled with care, not ever being too heavy handed. Their chemistry is obvious from their first reunion, and though this is billed as a kind of enemies to lovers, it didn't stay that way for long. Austin is able to forgive once they're in that lodge together and their attraction is impossible to ignore any longer. I love that Shay is strong and independent, and determined to not let her dream go by the wayside, even in the face of Austin's seeming non-support. She had to stand up for herself after having put so much into her former relationship, then getting dumped at the end. Interesting to note, and appreciated, Austin's the one with the insecurities, which is a relief considering it's usually the FMC who is shown to be insecure and vulnerable. But, it's just one of the many things that make him such a great male lead. I really enjoyed this story, and love Shay and Austin.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
