MY REVIEW

When Cooper and Rowan spend a few days in a bubble of delicious forced confines thanks to a storm, they wish they could stay, but they both have lives to get back to. Lives that will intersect in ways Cooper didn't expect. Rowan may have known who he was, but he certainly didn't know who her family was - competitors, rivals, enemies. Now that they've run into each other again and Cooper knows, how will he react? Like the enemy his family is? Or will their attraction win out?

Rowan knows who and what she wants. She was raised in a family equal in power and dominance to Cooper's family, and she doesn't back down when she's fighting for the people and the things she cares about. This alpha female may have met her match in alphahole Cooper, though, and only time will tell if these two can make something work in the face of their families' contempt for each other.

I really liked Cooper's brother's story, The Playboy, but I LOVE Cooper's own story with Rowan. Cooper may have been a playboy like his brother was, but once he experienced a life altering encounter with Rowan, it was game over for him and his heart. He is an alpha for sure, with a dirty mouth, but Rowan was more than his equal - a fierce, intelligent woman who went toe to toe with him and brought him to his knees with her sass, her passion, and her heart. Delicious chemistry, witty, snarky vibes, anguish, and finally, love make this one of my favorite stories by Marni. Like in The Playboy, there are cameos by the Daltons, but this series is really about the Spades, and I can't wait for more of them, for the next one to fall in love.
