Review / Release Blitz: Something Like Love (Chicago Grizzlies #3) by Piper Rayne

Something Like Love by Piper Rayne is now live!

I want to.
I can’t.

I’ve been friends with Cooper Rice from the moment we met. He was just as famous a decade ago on our college campus as he is now being the star quarterback for the Chicago Grizzlies.

But he’s not only talented on the field, he’s also the gorgeous football star women fawn over, posing in underwear and razor ads.

Here’s a secret those women don’t know—Cooper Rice isn’t a playboy. He’s the kind of man who wants to settle down with a family. He’s content ordering pizza and massaging my feet after my long shift as an emergency room doctor. He listens to me as if he’s as invested as I am in my patients. He has never let me down.

This is exactly why I refuse to live without Cooper in my life. Eight years ago, I made him promise me that we’d never cross that line. And just like I knew Cooper would, he’s held to that promise.

Despite our best efforts, our relationship is evolving, shifting into new territory and I find myself unsure if I want Cooper to keep that promise. Ignoring the obvious could tear us apart, but so could giving in, meaning there’s a chance I’ll lose Cooper forever no matter what decision I make.

MY REVIEW

Cooper may be in the friend zone with his best friend Ellery, but his feelings are not and have never been, only friendly. When she starts dating one of his teammates, even their friendship comes under fire because his jealousy is causing him to behave like well...a jealous boyfriend. Ellery wants no part of it or of him, until meddling friends force them to talk it out. Can they break out of the friend zone and into where they really belong - in love and happy together?

Ellery may have always loved her best friend Cooper, but she has not, cannot, allow herself or him, to act on those feelings because she cannot imagine a life without him in it. Crossing that line is the surest way for their friendship to break and there's no way she can allow that to happen. Except they have crossed that line, what does she do now? Can she allow herself to give him everything he wants? She knows he wants it all and she's just not sure she's the woman to give it to him.

Friends to lovers can be so good or so boring depending upon the author and the couple, I'm very glad to say Cooper and Ellery are the best of the best. They have chemistry in spades, and it's completely obvious they weren't really just friends deep in their hearts, even from the first page. They have step over a lot of obstacles to get to their happiness - their insecurities, her awful father, and their respective jobs making their schedules incompatible, but they finally come out of it on the other side and I was cheering them on, even while wanting to shake them both for being stubborn. I'm going to miss the Chicago Grizzlies, but I know the Falcons are coming, and if this awesome series has to end, at least it goes out on a high with an amazing couple like Cooper and Ellery.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
