MY REVIEW

Roman has his businesses - the legitimate and the not so legitimate, and his family (brothers and sisters-in-law, and his Nonna) and that's all he wants and needs. He doesn't believe himself capable of love, not romantic love at least. So when he meets a tiny, stronger than she appears, woman, and he becomes obsessed with her, he doesn't know what do do with all his feelings. He can't even figure out why he's so fascinated with Effie, nor will he admit to anything beyond wanting to protect her, to being attracted to her. All he knows is he has to be with her, even to the tune of marrying her to protect her from a situation he inadvertently brought to her doorstep. But though he'll be married to her, and will make sure their marriage is one of contentment, he won't, can't, say the words to her that he knows she wants to hear.

Effie has spent her life feeling less than, thanks to a vicious sister who puts her down every chance she gets. When that same sister gets her kidnapped, she does the only thing she can - invoke Roman's name. Now she owes him, and pay up she'll have to do. She'll just have to accept the pleasurable method of payment doesn't include feelings beyond affection.

These Mafia men of Melanie's are possessive and protective, and so freaking hot! Neither Roman nor Aldo knew what to do when they fell in love, didn't even admit to, or even realize, what was going on. Effie is just as strong as Aldo's wife Vi, but she comes in a different form. She's not meek, in fact, is so strong and independent, but she's more apt to try to blend in, thanks to her awful sister. But she's truly the perfect match for Roman, the only one to bring him to his knees, even if she didn't realize it. Effie and Roman's story is a perfect way to end this duet, but I really wish there were more coming for them, I'm going to miss them.
