MY REVIEW

Scarlett's just found herself standing across the desk from the man whom she hasn't seen since their one and only time together. He says he can't give himself to her because of his vow. But it doesn't matter, because she's only here to protect his adorable daughter, Gia. Unless she's really here to make him fall for her, the one thing he doesn't want, can't want.

Ever since Luca lost his wife, he's closed himself off. The only bright part of his existence is his daughter. So when something in his world threatens her, he has to have protection for her. But why did that protection have to come in the form of the woman he hasn't been able to get off his mind for a year?! Sooner or later he won't be able to rely on his restraint, because Scarlett tests that restraint more than anyone, even the only other person in his life that he keeps a secret.

As is Kelly's signature, this story is packed with spice, like 5 alarm hot! But it's the emotional connection between the characters that really kept me so riveted. Even when there's just tension between them, and they haven't given into it yet, the emotional connection is beyond obvious. Luca's different with his daughter, and she brings moments of sunshine into her every scene. Then Scarlett came into their lives and made them whole with her fierceness, her badass protective nature, and her refusal to give up. There are cameos by some of Kelly's other favorite characters, and a group scene that melted my Kindle it was so delicious. And by the end, I had stopped shedding a few tears for the pain they had gone through, knowing they were finally happy together.
