August is going back to the one place she never thought she'd come back to, never wanted to come back to, to settle her mother's estate. Her brother figure doesn't tell his wife he's offering her their empty home for her to stay in, so now she's stuck with her teen crush, Evan Ashton, as her new roommie while she's in town. Forced proximity can do intense things to people with the chemistry they have, so they'll both need to be careful not to go and do something crazy like fall in love. She's only here temporarily, so it would be very, very unwise to do that.
Evan's been back home trying to make his own mark on the family legacy, but it hasn't been easy. He's used to the fast paced restaurant scene that he left, where he was the new big thing. Here at home, though, he has to deal with his equally stubborn family, and it's driving him nuts. And it seems while he was gone, August Percy became one of that same stubborn family. Except she's not really the young teenager he remembers, and it's messing with his head. Having to be her new roommate is testing his restraint even though he knows her stay is temporary.
What a beautiful way to end this amazing series! I've long been interested in Evan's story. He's been in the background of each of the previous stories, but in each of his scenes he was so intriguing that I knew when the time came for him to fall in love, it would be have to be with someone as intriguing as he is. He really couldn't have picked a more perfect partner to fall for, even though he had to work to get past her trust issues and into her heart. I'm going to miss this family and all the residents of their small town.
