Review / Release Blitz: Won't Back Down (Wayward Sons #1) by Harper Jackson

WON'T BACK DOWN
Harper Jackson
Release Date: September 6

I drowned when I was sixteen.

My brother's best friend brought me back, but nothing was the same. I can't remember what happened. My parents dragged me away from my island home in the name of keeping me safe, and thrust me into hell instead.

I came back to Hatterwick to rebuild my life and--hopefully--my memory.

Now a new inheritance threatens to expose those long buried secrets, and someone will stop at nothing to ensure I never remember what really happened that fateful night.

The only thing standing between me and whoever wants to hurt me is a marriage of protection with the boy who saved me--now a man grown and determined to keep me safe at all costs.

But what began as protection turns into more. Because he's the key to unlocking what hides in the shadows of my mind, which will either save or damn us both.

MY REVIEW

Sawyer's back on the island after retiring from the Navy. His best friend Jace's little sister Willa is here, and he's determined to reconnect with her. They have a special bond, although they haven't seen much of each other since the time he rescued her all those years ago. But now he's back, and she needs help again. Sawyer will be the one to protect her, in every way, including a marriage of convenience to keep her horrible parents from taking advantage of her again. Throughout their journey, all those feelings will have to come out in some way, and so will her memories of that night.

Willa and and Sawyer are so freaking sweet together. He's such a protective, compassionate guy who had long loved Willa. Thank God he came back home and they finally got to admit their long held feelings. There's an overarching mystery and suspense that blend perfectly with their relationship, and I must admit I had absolutely no idea who the real villain was. The secondary cast is as interesting and lovable as Sawyer and Willa, and I'm eagerly waiting for all the Wayward Sons' stories to come.

Meet Harper Jackson
Harper Jackson has rescued her co-workers from a hostage situation, battled ninjas, and stopped international espionage—in her head anyway. Now that she’s no longer busy devising ways to make staff meetings more entertaining, she’s pouring that imagination into tales of breath-stealing, small-town romantic suspense. She believes that peach cobbler with ice cream is the best dessert ever and has a black belt in taekwondo to back it up. She lives in the Deep South with her husband and three canine furbabies.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
