Review / Release Blitz: If This Was a Movie (Evergreen Park #2) by Morgan Elizabeth

If This Was a Movie by Morgan Elizabeth is now live!

A new holiday romantic comedy from best-selling author of Tis the Season for Revenge!

A year ago, Jules stumbled upon the man of her dreams in a bar on Christmas. After a lifetime of watching romantic comedies, she was sure she had found her soulmate. That is, until she finds out he has an entire family, and blocked him.

A year later, she’s having the worst day she possibly could, leaving her stuck on the sidewalk outside her place in a ballet costume, watching firefighters condemn her house because of a water main break when a little girl grabs her hand and tells her she’s her Christmas wish.

When Nate’s daughter tells Santa all she wants for Christmas is for her dad to marry the real-life version of her favorite doll, he dreads having to tell her the truth. When they run into the spitting image of the doll, ballerina costume and all minutes later, he’s floored to find that it’s his dream woman who disappeared from his life last Christmas.

Nate’s meddling sisters offer his in-law suite and his contracting skills to Jules in exchange for watching his daughter, and he jumps on the opportunity. Now, he has just a few weeks to use Christmas magic to make her realize they are meant to be.

MY REVIEW

Jules thought Nate was the one, but when she saw evidence that showed otherwise, she ran, blocked him, and moved on. Then one horrible day of bad luck a year later, a little girl comes running up to her on the sidewalk outside her flooding home and studio. She tells Jules she's her Christmas wish come to life and that she needs to come with her, fall in love with her dad, and marry him. That dad? The guy she thought was the one, yeah, that guy.

Nate has been in a funk since his magical fling left him and apparently blocked him. Then nearly a year later, she appears just in time for Christmas, in the form of...his daughter's Christmas wish come to life? No, really. If he can convince her that moving into his guest cottage until her home is inhabitable, he'll have the time to prove to her they're meant to be together, forever.

This is a sweet, cute holiday romance in the vein of Hallmark, like the rom-coms Jules loves so much. Nate is the ultimate golden retriever hero who is completely in love with the woman who ghosted him. His daughter Sophie is the most adorable, precocious little girl who stole the entire show. And Jules is...well, a frustrating, damaged dancer. I liked everything about their story but Jules's baggage. She really was ridiculous in the last part, but I do give her a tiny bit of grace because she came by that baggage in pretty bad fashion. Nate's sisters are a hoot, and I'm definitely looking forward to their stories. Though it's a bit early, now I'm definitely in the holiday mood.

Meet Morgan Elizabeth

Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She's addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.

Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There's a framed 'page one' of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she's crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn't until recently she finally gave them the reigns.

I'm so grateful you've agreed to take this journey with me.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
