MY REVIEW


I was so not expecting this to be Rhett's backstory! He and Lainey were first loves, but something went wrong and she left. Now they're back in each other's lives, and the time has come for the truth to come out. When that truth finally comes out, it explains absolutely everything - the reason for Rhett's grumpiness. The reason he seems so damaged, because he absolutely is. And the reason he never, ever got over Lainey.


Though this is a billionaire romance, it's so far out of the box of that trope, that I could never have foreseen the circumstances of Rhett and Lainey's past and everything that happened. I might have cried buckets, but by the end I was as happy as this couple who finally were able to recapture their first love. Actually, their only love, considering they had never fallen out of love with each other. I've loved all of the couples in this series, but Rhett and Lainey have definitely taken the top spot in my heart now with their tragic, but beautiful love story.
