BLURB
From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE novel.

Don’t say her name.
That was the one rule my bandmates followed, because they knew how much it messed me up to think about her, especially on tour.
My ex, Nicole.
The one who got away and the woman who still owned every piece of my heart.
After our divorce, I threw myself into the rock scene, trying to forget my heartbreak.
Three years after we split, a phone call from Nicole changed everything.
She told me her grandmother wasn’t doing well.
Mimi was still family to me, and she apparently had one wish before dying: to spend time with us—Nicole and me.
With Mimi’s caretaker away on vacation, it would be the ideal time for us to move in with her for a couple of weeks.
Of course, I couldn’t refuse.
But there was a catch.
Nicole apparently never told her that we’d gotten a divorce.
She hadn’t believed Mimi could handle it, because her grandmother loved me so much.
So, not only would I have to see Nicole again, but I’d be pretending to still be her husband.
Two weeks in a tiny house in a small town with the woman who broke my heart. Or was it me who broke hers?
It was complicated.
And it was about to be a heck of a lot more complicated sharing one bed in the guest room with a woman who wasn’t mine anymore.

MY REVIEW

Atticus still can't hear his ex wife's name without it piercing his heart, but when she calls to ask a favor of him, he can't say no because it involves her grandma, someone he considers family. Now he's going to have to spend some time pretending to still be married to the woman he loves, and act like everything's OK, not that he's dying inside being around her. But Mimi may have had the right idea asking him and Nicole to come take care of her, because they're finally in the same room and are being forced to come to terms with each other and their feelings, feelings that are still very present, regardless of the state of their marriage.

Nicole would do whatever her Mimi asks, even ask her ex-husband to come pretend to still be married to her, all for Mimi's peace of mind. But having Atticus back is wreaking havoc with her poor heart and mind. She's remembering how much she still loves him, but she's also remembering just why they broke up in the first place. If she cannot bring herself to accept his lifestyle, there's no way they can have the second chance both their hearts want.

Nicole and Atticus took me on a journey with them, filled with so many emotional highs and lows. Throughout their journey, though, their love was always present, even when it was buried beneath past pain and resentment. They're true soulmates, and I was rooting them on as they fought through all their issues. There were some things thrown at them that a weaker couple, weaker characters, wouldn't have gotten through, and I wondered at times how they'd get through everything. But, in true Penelope fashion, they had so much heart, so much love and support from their crew, that they made it through. I admit I might have shed a few tears, but by the end my heart was singing with joy as they reunited permanently. I do believe this is the last story in the Delirious Jones series, and I have to say I'm sorry this band's stories are done. I'm going to miss them, but wow, what a couple's second chance story to go out with! I couldn't have asked for a better, more heartfelt, beautiful second chance love story to conclude this duology.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
