Review / Release Blitz: Quietly Yours (Quiet Love #3) by L.H. Cosway

Quietly Yours by L.H. Cosway is now live!

Ada Rose never expected to find herself homeless in her thirties. Then again, she also never thought she’d encounter a man as heartless as Jonathan Oaks. Her job managing a care home for the elderly is a struggle and the sudden death of her father and stepmother—who she had been living with— has thrown her world into disarray. The house is left to Jonathan, her stepmother’s estranged son, and he wants Ada gone ASAP.

In fact, he’s given her a week to pack her things and move out.

As a resident in the home, Ada knows she has certain rights but her pride gets the better of her. If Jonathan wants her gone then she’ll go, and finding herself out of options, resorts to sleeping in her car. But she’s a survivor and has gotten through a lot worse.

After a week and still finding no apartments in her price range, Ada is getting desperate. She receives a call from Jonathan requesting she come collect some of her late father’s belongings. She doesn’t expect him to be there when she drops by, and after he takes one look at Ada’s possessions stuffed into her car she’s filled with a sense of shame. Resentment, too, because he’s the very reason her life has been upended.

Being a wealthy investment banker, Ada anticipates Jonathan’s disdain for her situation but it never comes. Instead he mentions a vacant apartment he owns and offers to rent it to her for a reasonable price. Not willing to look a gift horse in the mouth, Ada accepts his offer. But what she doesn’t realise is that the apartment is right next door to Jonathan’s, and becoming his neighbour means getting to know him a whole lot better.

Quietly Yours is book #3 in L.H. Cosway’s Quiet Love Series and can be read as a standalone.

MY REVIEW

Ada's lost her parents (dad & stepmom) and her home all in one. This woman who's grieving can only take so much. How will she survive when her stepmom's estranged son kicks her out of her home?! Now she's living in her car for a minute. Perhaps the grumpy but also grieving stepbrother will find his heart softened when he sees what he's done to her life.

Jonathan has regrets, the first being that he didn't reconcile with his mother before she passed. The second being that he was so awful to her husband, not willing to see he might have misjudged him before they passed. And now his third - he so coldly and unfeelingly kicked Ada out of their parents' house and he finds she's been living in her car. Now he has to add shame to his grief and regrets. Perhaps he can redeem himself when he realizes his huge misstep and offers Ada a place to stay among his many real estate properties. These two "enemies" just may find love during their grieving, find healing in a way they never expected.

I've read a lot of this author's stories, and I've found a common thread - lovable, flawed characters with emotionally layered plots. Jonathan and Ada's is a slow burn, heartfelt kind of love story. They started off on a horrible note, with Jonathan putting the grump in grumpy af, but finding his heart simply couldn't resist Ada, who was grieving just as he was. Not only did they help each other heal, they became each other's rocks. I'm going to remember this couple and their story for a long time.

You TV series

Wow, hubby and I watched You on Lifetime last night. It was creepy and suspenseful. Hubby likened it to Dexter , and I have to agree. Penn Badgley was on point - creepy, stalkery, but fascinating. I didn't think too much of Elizabeth Lail's acting, but I'm not sure if it was just that her character was bland, or if it was truly bad acting. Can't wait for next week!
