MY REVIEW

Aleatha's known for her darker, more intense reads, and I love them, but in this collection, some of her lighter works are showcased. All fun, sweet and sexy.

Quintessentially the One - 4 stars

Kandace knows she'll have to see her first and only love again, soon, because he's back per his grandma's will stipulations. If only he'd sign the shop over to her with no fuss, then head back to Chicago where he's been since he ghosted her all those years ago. If only her heart didn't still long for Dax. If only she didn't have an adorable little secret that will change everything between them.

Sweet, lighthearted and low drama second chance. Sometimes you just want something that has some heat without all the angst, and that's what this story offered. Not a whole lot happens, no over the top drama or shenanigans, but some lovely, warm characters who have more heart than the average contemporary romance. I really liked Dax and Kandace, but the ones who had my heart were little Molly and Dax's meddling but loving grandma.

One Kiss - 4 stars

Justin's a bachelor farmer with no intentions of ever settling down, until one kiss with a stranger keeps him wondering about his bachelor status. He shouldn't keep thinking about her, but he can't help but wish he'd see her again. Then he does, only she's not a stranger...she's his best friend's little sister Devan, and she's all grown up!

Low angst and drama, the forbidden aspect isn't dragged on, and I was smiling as Devan's brother quickly realized his sister was an adult capable of making her own decisions, AND that his friend was a good man, definitely good for his sister. Sometimes you're in the mood for light-hearted and sweet, and that's exactly what Devan and Justin delivered.

One String - 4 stars

Marilyn has moved on (kind of) from the time Ricky broke her heart. Since then she's not spent it moping, no, she's become a success, and it's that success that brings Ricky back to her. Unwanted by Marilyn, at first. But when her sleazy ex pisses her off, she has to agree to help Ricky. Now all that forced proximity is either going to finally allow Ricky to explain himself and have the second chance he wants, or finally push Marilyn away for good.

Back when he broke her heart, Ricky felt justified. He hadn't realized a very important fact, and their age gap was significant at the time. Now though, the gap isn't important. Although he originally contacted her with a proposal that she help him get a job at her firm, he's starting to realize what he could have with her is far more important than a job.

I like these lighter stories by Aleatha. Marilyn and Ricky's story is a sweet one. They have serious chemistry, and worked through their issues with not too much angst - all in all a lighthearted, heartwarming story of forgiveness and second chances.

Review: Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette (American Revolutionary Tales 2) by Regina Kammer

Review of Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette by Regina Kammer Captain Samuel Taylor and Lieutenant Patrick Hamilton recall their first steamy encounter, which was a MFM threesome in a brothel. It morphed into more and now the two are contemplating their futures with the women they love, and their futures with each other. If you think times are hard for the LGBT community now, think of how hard they were during the American Revolution. Winter Interlude is well developed, which is surprising given its short length. I am so interested in knowing what is to become of Samuel and Patrick's forbidden relationship. Do they stay together? Or do they go their separate ways, and live out their lives with their women? Now that they've admitted their love for each other, how impossible would it be for them to be without each other? I have to know, now! If you like MM fiction and/or historical fiction, I highly recommend you give Winter Interlude a read. It...
