BLURB
I think it’s important that you know this about me, that you understand this: I’m not sorry.

I’d do it again.

After my husband died eight years ago, I made vengeance my only purpose, my religion, my destiny. But to get to my enemy, I had to make myself like him. He had a kingdom of secrets? Then I would make an empire. He had blood on his hands? Then I would bathe in it.

But Tristan and Isolde changed everything. I hadn’t counted on wanting them, needing them; I hadn’t counted on how it felt to watch the two of them fall in love. I’d thought I had everything under control—I’d thought I was safe from my own long-dead heart. I’d never imagined that the wronged husband, the jealous king from my childhood fairy tales, would be played by none other than me.

It no longer matters what I used to believe. My enemy is ready to finish the game, and for the first time in eight years, I have pieces on the board I can’t afford to lose. I’ll burn the entire world to keep Tristan and Isolde safe, I’ll scorch the earth—but as any good assassin will tell you, fire will only get a man so far, because there’s always something left in the ashes. And for the three of us, it’s the cold, bitter bones of the truth: their story begins and ends with me.

And every story needs a villain…

MY REVIEW

In this conclusion, Mark, Isolde, and Tristan have come to a fork in the road. Each has a choice of which direction they want to go, and there's no guarantee that they'll travel down the path(s) together. Isolde has become, through her uncle's molding, a very confident, knife wielding, fierce queen. I think of the 3, she is the one whose character growth stood out the most. At the beginning she had a clear dream, but she was so young and innocent and had no idea what life really was. Then she met, married, and fell in love with not just her husband, but his bodyguard too, and her life went in a direction she never foresaw.

And then there's Tristan, my sweet, loyal puppy, Tristan. Oh how I love thee! I wanted to hug him at the same time as I did very naughty things to him like Isolde and Mark did to him. He's I think the glue that held this trio together, with his loyalty and unreserved submission.

Tristan, Isolde and Mark's story comes to its conclusion and damn is it a rollercoaster - a sinful, dark, sexy af rollercoaster. As I look back, I can see their individual character arcs and how each grew, not only themselves, but together. I didn't think I'd ever say this after Salt Kiss and Honey Cut, but Mark, the need for revenge-twisted, undisputed dominant top of their trio, actually redeemed himself, at least in my eyes. Oh he doesn't become less morally gray, or less of an ass, but the love he finds with the badass heroine Isolde becomes and the sweet, loyal puppy that Tristan remains, softens him a tad and forces him to see things from Isolde and Tristan's viewpoints and he starts admitting his feelings and behaving very distinctly non Mark-like. The suspense storyline wraps up with a very satisfying conclusion, offering a few surprises, some positive I guess you could say, and welcome, and some not so positive and very unwelcome. I remember falling in love with Sierra's writing for the first time when I read the Markham Hall series, then again with the Priest and New Camelot series, and now here I am again falling in love with her incredible storytelling in Tristan, Isolde and Mark's world. I cannot remember the last time a trio sucked me into their story so intensely, so much so that I was very, very impatiently waiting in between each installment, just dying to know what was going to happen next, and if the 3 of them would finally end up together or split up. I won't say if they did or didn't because spoilers, but I will say I love this trilogy and these characters as much as I love Ivy and Julian, Poppy and Father Bell, and Greer, Embry and Ash. And that is saying A LOT because those characters and their stories are some of my absolute favorites. If you are in the mood for something twisty, kinky, dark, and insanely naughty and delicious, I can't recommend the Lyonesse trilogy enough.

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
