Review: Nowhere To Hide (The Kendrick Group #1) by TC Jensen

Nowhere To Hide (The Kendrick Group #1) by TC Jensen is LIVE NOW!

I didn't believe in redemption until her.
I'm a haunted man, living on the sea. My best friend is the ghost I can't outrun. Drowning in guilt and bourbon, I wander from port to port stopping only long enough to replenish food, fuel, and booze.

Until Salem.

Until her.

Until I can no longer hide.

Like a fish caught in a net, she was trapped by a monster. I have no choice but to save her.

The police are in denial that they have a serial killer in their city. He's choosing victims who won't be missed to fulfill his twisted need to control their fate.

He picked the wrong woman this time.

All that matters now is keeping her safe while she heals. And the only place to do that is on my boat. Alone on the sea with the one woman who makes me feel way too much, I wonder if it's time to stop living in the past.

I'll do anything to protect her—including hunting down the monster who wants to take her away from me.

Author note: The Kendrick Group novels are full-length, action packed (both in and out of the bedroom) love stories that always end with a happily-ever-after and no cliffhangers. Locke and Cilla may start as a slow burn, but they definitely don't lack for spicy times once they get going. Possessive hero alert for those who love them as much as I do.

MY REVIEW

Cilla came to Salem for a little vacation and instead got attacked, literally. Now she's living on a catamaran with her protector, the man who saved her that night, Locke. Locke is not only her protector, he's becoming much more. But he's fighting his feelings because of the guilt that he's lived with since his best friend died. Now he's protecting Cilla while falling in love with her, even though he can't admit it.

When Taryn said she was writing darker themed stuff under a new pen name, I was so excited! She did not pull her punches at all - Nowhere to Hide is an excellent debut for the new pen name. Locke is protective and skilled, but carries so much pain and guilt that he was just drifting through life. Until he rescued a woman and she crept into his heart when he was least expecting it. I have to say that I'm thrilled that Taryn's writing an edgier kind of romance, one that concentrates equally on thrilling suspense. The side characters are just as interesting as Locke and Cilla - I'm so impatient to read their stories to come.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
