Review Blitz: The Mysterious One (The Weston Group #3) by Marni Mann

The Mysterious One by Marni Mann is now live!

A spicy grumpy-sunshine, age-gap, close-proximity romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann …

I’m the mysterious one. The angriest alphahole who never bends. And she’s the woman who will bring me to my knees.

As the executive chef and face of my family’s billion-dollar empire, time is the one luxury I don't have. With endless responsibilities and nonstop demands, I lost my passion and love for the art of cooking. What used to be my dream job is now my worst nightmare. I was ready to walk away and give up everything we’d built …

Until Alivia happened.

She was supposed to be a temporary diversion so we could satisfy each other’s desires and then never see each other again …

Yet I knew she was different right away. A woman who was my complete opposite, the calm to my storm. The sunshine to my darkness. With a body that left me speechless.

What I didn’t see was how much we both craved a break. Me from a career that would eventually kill me, her from an abusive home life.

When two people in pain connect, an explosion erupts. That was us. All fire and longing, mixed with a genuine need to seek shelter in one another’s arms.

While I’m still savoring the taste of her on my lips, I see her again unexpectedly and wonder … is our connection enough to surpass the secrets between us, or were we only meant to have those two nights together?

MY REVIEW

Walker Weston is angry all the time and he doesn't enjoy his job. He's the head chef at Charred LA, and the face of his family's hotel empire, but he doesn't have the passion for it any longer. He's so angry all the time that his family steps in and makes him take a minute to blow off steam and relax. Meeting the absolutely most beautiful woman, no real names allowed, does the opposite, though, because now all he does is think about his Sky (her handle on the app) and wish he'd had more time with her. Then he spies those arresting eyes in his restaurant walking by him in uniform. Did Sky lie? Was she only trying to land a job at his restaurant, or was it really fate they matched on that app? Maybe he really is getting his love back for cooking, and it's because of her.

All Alivia does is work and dream of the day she can move out of her mother's place so she no longer has to put with the screaming and the abuse her mother and her mother's husband hurl at her. If she can just stick it out another month, she should have enough money to get her own place. A chance match on an app she forgot she was even on gives her a weekend of letting go, but she knows she'll never see her Whiskey35 again unfortunately. Until she does. As her boss. Her very seemingly different boss than her gorgeous Whiskey35 who took such great care of her during their weekend. A boss who yells a lot, something that triggers her panic attacks and makes her think she can't work here even though her dream is to be a chef and working at Charred is supposed to be her chance to learn on the job from the best.

Marni has absolutely outdone herself with this installment of the Westons. Alivia is a a dream heroine - she's so strong and never lets her awful circumstances bring her down, she has a huge heart that may have been bruised by her home life, but that home life has also made her want to offer others in her situation something warm and beautiful, unlike what she had, and she finally finds the love and the family she so richly deserves. Finds it with a grumpy bear of a man who was just looking for that light, that warmth to inspire him to find his heart again. Spicy, delicious chemistry, two people who probably shouldn't have made a great union, but are perfect for each other, and a big, loving family who welcome a new person into their fold who definitely deserved that love. Now I'm eagerly awaiting Colson's story next, The Irresistible One.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
