A terrible betrayal cost me everything.

My home. My job. My reputation. My so-called friends.

Scared, hurting, the life I’d worked so hard for in shambles, there seemed no better option than to leave.

After years of city life, the idea of escaping to the small town of Williston seemed appealing. So I picked up and moved there to take a job at the local diner. It might not have been what I’d trained for, but I came to enjoy it.

Something else I enjoyed? Talking to Webb—my favorite customer, the most handsome man I’d ever met, and a man I might have considered dating if things were different.

Ever since I met Noelle at the diner, it’s become my favorite place to visit.

And if she gave any sign of being interested, I’d ask her out in a second.

As we grow closer, I can tell she’s keeping a secret. I’m worried, but I don’t know her well enough to push. Not until I find her hurt and and humiliated and crying in the diner bathroom, that is. Not until I find out the truth of why she left her old life behind.

Noelle needs someone who believes in her. Someone who’ll do anything to protect her. And with the help of my Blade and Arrow teammates, I intend to do just that.

Protected from Evil is a steamy he-falls-first story featuring a former Night Stalker, a scared but strong heroine, a team of Army veterans, found family, forced proximity, thrilling twists, and a guaranteed HEA. Can be read as a standalone.

MY REVIEW

Noelle had to move to this small town to get away from her creepy, stalker former boss. No longer a theater stage manager, she's now a waitress at a diner, just trying to start over and hope her ex boss doesn't find her. There's a customer at the diner whom she can't help but notice, as he's here every day. Then he rescues her and introduces her to his team of protective security and former military men and women, all as protective as he. If anyone can find the threat and protect her, it's Webb and his team and found family.

Webb used to be a Night Stalker, now he's with the Blade & Arrow Team, so his protective tendencies are ingrained in him. That's why when the woman he fell for practically at first sight, is being threatened, he's the first to jump to protect her. He's never been one for relationships before, but he can't deny how he feels about Noelle. He'll keep her safe and figure out how to eliminate the threat, all of them, so his woman can live her life free of fear, to experience the happiness she deserves.

Noelle was right when she told Webb he was romantic. The sweet stuffed animals, and all the ways he cared for her, all the little things and the quiet, steady rock he was - so swoony in a very realistic sense. And Noelle, my God she was just trying to keep herself protected, live her life out of the reach of her disgusting ex boss, I felt so for her. Thank God she picked this small town to move to, because it's where she met Webb and the Blade and Arrow crew. Suspense, a sweet, spicy quickly evolving relationship - what an excellent addition to this excellent series.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Title: The Challenge: A Single Dad Romance Author: Penelope Ward Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance Tropes: Single Dad, Second Chance, Forced Proximity Friends to Lovers, Small Town, Found Family Release Date: August 30, 2026 BLURB From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE contemporary romance… Nothing says welcome home like accidentally moving in with your first heartbreak…and his little girl. Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
