When Remy's dumped, on the Jumbotron no less, she's not just humiliated, it leaves her without a date for her sister's upcoming wedding where her now ex is the best man. Thank God a rescuer in the form of gorgeous, if grumpy, Lake Axelrod, her best friend's brother, and hockey player who saw her humiliation from the ice. Now they're engaged in a fake relationship that's starting to feel a lot like a very real relationship. Feelings are quickly evolving and Remy's wondering if she can keep her heart intact when it inevitably ends.
I cannot tell you just how much I love it when the guy falls first, and is so freaking in love that he can't even deal with it. Lake is quite possibly, Lauren's best, sweetest (in a broody way), hottest hero yet. The way he pined for her for so long, then once he could, took care of Remy, the way he absolutely saw her in the realest of ways, so dang swoony. And Remy, yes she's the luckiest of heroines to be so adored by Lake, but also so deserving. She started off as this slightly type a person about perfection, but grew so as she realized so many important things. Remy and Lake's fake to real story is heartwarming, heartfelt and delicious, and I think my new Lauren favorite.
