MY REVIEW

Nicholas lost his father and is now King. He hasn't been allowed a moment to catch his breath before assuming the throne and all the weight that his new obligations will put on his shoulders. Then his new footman, Noah, comes into his life and his grumpy, rigidness is taking a turn to warmth. That warmth in the form of his beautiful Noah, cannot be, though, because a King and a footman can never be together. They'll have to enjoy their forbidden time while it lasts, because it won't be forever...


Noah needs this job. What little money he makes he sends home to his family, who cannot work. So he really shouldn't be spending his time falling in love with his new boss, the new King. They both know they cannot be together in any real sense, but the heart wants what the heart wants, even if those hearts are destined to end up broken when reality intrudes on their secret. Now Noah has a choice to make, stay at the palace and watch the man he loves marry his betrothed, and try to pretend his heart isn't shredded. Or go home and live out his life without his King, the King he cannot be with. No good choices here...


So much longing! The way these two pined for each other was just so romantic. They truly were a study in opposites - stations in life, personality, the way they carry themselves, but it just serves to make them the sweetest couple, when they finally get to choose to be together for everyone to see. There isn't a big supporting cast, but the standout is Nicholas' twin brother, Gabriel, not only does he serve as a hilarious, sassy foil for Nicholas' grumpy King, but his words of wisdom are just the pep talk needed to make Nicholas come to a very important realization. I fell hard for this forbidden couple, and I'm positively impatient now for more when Gabriel falls in love next in The Spare Affair.
