Blurb
Two decades ago, Jack Garrison boarded a plane for West Point and left Luke Calder behind.

Luke stopped waiting. Eventually.

Now, as he approaches forty, Luke has built a life he loves in Calder Ridge, the Colorado mountain town he's always called home. The past is finally where it belongs.

Then Jack comes back.

After a decorated Army career, a failed marriage, and a lifetime spent wondering about the boy he left behind, Jack plans only a brief stop.

Everything changes when he sees Luke again. Confident. Stronger. Somehow even more handsome than Jack remembered.

Their attraction flares to life again, but desire is the easy part. Heartache and distrust don't disappear overnight. What happens when the boys who lost each other grow into men who finally have a chance to get it right?

Some first loves fade into the past. But some are worth taking the long way to find again.

MY REVIEW

The last person Luke expected to walk into his gym is Jack, his high school sweetheart, who left him over 20 years ago and never came back. He figures Jack isn't going to stick around, and really has no plans on a sweet reunion. But just maybe Jack is tired of the life he left Luke for, and wants a second chance. Will Luke give him that second chance?

Luke and Jack's second chance is sweet. I admit to not really connecting to Jack, but I really like Luke, his sweet nature and his maturity. Second chance stories to be successful in my eyes must have characters that not only really work for their second chance, but deserve that chance. I think Luke was the one who did the most work and wanted it the most, Jack maybe not so much. I don't like that he ghosted Luke for so long and yet those 20 years not much detail was given about them or if that time was spent doing things that were worthy of him leaving Luke for. So though I can't say I connected to Jack, Luke makes up for him, and the story itself is sweet and low angst.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
