I’ve taken pucks to the face…

But nothing hits harder than hearing her call me Dad.

I return to Cedar Hollow for my father’s funeral. Not for forgiveness. Not for Poppy. And definitely not for the daughter I never knew was mine.

Poppy rebuilt her life without me—and she has every reason not to trust the man who left her behind.

But the moment I meet my little girl, everything changes. Walking away isn’t an option anymore.

They can warn her about me all they want. This time, I’m not leaving.

I’ll burn this town to the ground before I lose them again.

MY REVIEW

Storm is back in his hometown, Cedar Hollow, where he never wanted to be again. He's going to his asshole father's funeral, then leaving. No need to stay here where all his worst memories live on. But then Poppy lives here, too, the girl he left behind, the girl he never got over. And she has her own beautiful little girl whose eyes look suspiciously familiar. Now Storm has a very important reason to stick around - getting to know his beautiful daughter Holly, and proving to Poppy he loves them both.

Poppy had no choice but to move on after her night with Storm - she had a daughter to raise. And she's done it extremely well, because Holly is thriving here with all her found family. She's bright and curious and has a big heart like Poppy. Then Storm barrels into their lives. Will he stick around for good this time? Or leave like he did the last time and not break just Poppy's, but Holly's heart, too?

I have to admit Storm hasn't been my favorite in his previous mentions, but here with his backstory revealed, his character takes on a whole new dimension. He and Poppy and Holly had a lot of obstacles to climb, but they finally figured things out. It helped that Storm couldn't resist his adorable daughter. Holly is the glue in their newly discovered family, but Poppy and Storm do their own work for their second chance. He does prove to her he's staying, and she proves she has room in her heart for more than just their daughter. Their story is sweet - full of healing, lots of heart, with all the emotions on the spectrum. Cedar Hollow is quite a backdrop, with quirky residents who rally around their own with support and love. I loved reading as Poppy and Storm fell back in love, formed their family with Holly, and settled into home. Now I am impatiently waiting for Clover and Shep falling in Small Town, Big Trouble.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
