Review: Buck Wild (Bennett Boys Ranch Book 1) by Lauren Landish

Review of Buck Wild by Lauren Landish Saddle up, pardner, cuz James and Sophie are about to take you on a sweet and sexy ride in Buck Wild! When bull rider James meets vet intern Sophie, the hostility between the two is obviously masking a latent attraction. And it doesn't take long for them to consummate that attraction. But, is a relationship in the cards for the two when James is fixing to head back out on the circuit, and Sophie is set to go back to school once summer is over? While Buck Wild isn't anything epic or out of the ordinary, it delivers steam, snappy dialogue and an exciting cast of Bennett Brothers to explore in further installments of the Bennett Boys Ranch series. If cowboy love is your jam, I highly recommend you give Buck Wild a quick read. Review: The Art of the Game (The Corcoran and Flynn Families Book 1) by Kayt Miller

Review of The Art of the Game by Kayt Miller Pair one hot mess of an artist with one hot defensive end, what do you get? A whole lotta chemistry sparking between Reggie and Carter, that's what. Reggie is about to receive her MFA in ceramics when a big, really hot guy proposes an arrangement to her. No, not THAT kind of arrangement. One where she live in his home and help him start a foundation "that would fund after school arts programs and grants for art supplies for teachers in Chicago." What's a poor, starving arteest to do when given a proposition like that? Well, Reggie is a wise woman so she accepts. Of course, things don't stay professional between our football jock/painter and our ceramics artist, but their journey to a happily ever after isn't an easy one. Carter's schedule is demanding. Reggie's got insecurities. Carter's got an evil ex. And Reggie doesn't really fit into Carter's world. So how can they possibly make it w

Review: The Man In The Mirror by Georgia Le Carre

Review of The Man In The Mirror by Georgia Le Carre Charlotte is tired of her looks getting her fired from nanny jobs. So it's not hard for her friend to convince her to downplay her looks for her next job - nanny for reclusive billionaire, Brett King. Brett used to have it all - a family, lots of money, and dazzling good looks. Then he lost it all and now he has holed himself up in his mansion, only dealing with his staff. His wife has essentially left him and their son to party and be with other men. When she hires Charlotte, though, to nanny their young son, she will change his and his son, Zachary's lives, irrevocably. I really liked The Man in the Mirror. It's well-written, paced well, and most importantly, Charlotte and Brett are fabulous characters with electric chemistry. I hope there's more to come from Georgia and her nanny series. Review: Enslaved by Jax Hart

Review of Enslaved by Jax Hart Christos is El Diablo, the Devil, and he's obsessed. The object of his obsession is his opposite - young, innocent and a breath of fresh air in Christos' world of depraved pleasure. Jessie is a deckhand on Christos' yacht, unaware he's been obsessed with her since before she even got the job. He's a dark, determined, ruthless alpha who takes what he wants and has no feelings whatsoever. He thinks he's soulless and that's precisely why he's drawn to Jessie, he wants her to make him feel something. What happens when he does start to feel something for her but she betrays him (or so he thinks)? Whew, Enslaved is a roller coaster! Christos is intense and twisted and I was cringing by the time Enslaved ended, feeling so badly for poor Jessie. When she entered his dark world, she had no idea what she was in for. I cannot wait to see where Jax Hart takes these two next. ARC via Booksprout. #bookreview #newrelease #JaxH

Review: Definition of Stripped by Lia Peele

Review of Definition of Stripped by Lia Peele When Scarlett meets someone from her past, it throws her. Dev was the teenage son of her ex, the ex she left 6 years ago when he cheated on her. Paul was a horrible father, a horrible person, really, and Scarlett just couldn't be with him any longer. Scarlett didn't want to leave Dev, who is only a few years younger than she, but for her sanity she had to leave. Now 6 years later, Dev's back in her life, and he wants her. He's always wanted her. And Scarlett wants him, too. But, can she have him? Should she let herself have him? She knows she shouldn't, especially when his "occupations" come to light, but she just can't seem to help herself. Her mind and body love Dev, and love isn't logical. The ending leaves things open to interpretation. I wouldn't really call it a HFN ending, definitely not a HEA, but things are left on a hopeful note. I definitely cannot wait to read Definition of Cravin

Review: Caught in the Current (Cape Cod Shores Book 2) by Charlee James

Review of Caught in the Current (Cape Cod Shores Book 2) by Charlee James Jay needs Alex's help. His nephew has been kidnapped and she's just the investigator to help him get him back. Sure, they have a history, but Alex is ready and willing to help. As their investigation continues, will it offer them the chance to become closer? Will they be able to use this as a time to get to know each other better? I thought Caught in the Current was a great romantic suspense. Jay and Alex are interesting, very likable characters and I like the way the case is used to bring the two of them together. A solid effort from a new to me author. #bookreview #CharleeJames #newrelease #NetGalley

Review: For You by Alexandra Silva

Review of For You by Alexandra Silva Dory (Dorian) and Phillip's (Pip) story is an emotional roller coaster. It starts when they're young and already know each other, and spans years into adulthood. Apparently Pip's sister Quincy is one of Dory's best friends, and it's made things a tad uncomfortable. To make matters worse, Dory's brother, Jamie, is one of Phillip's best friends. What a soap opera world we've got here! But it works out and Pip and Dory take the plunge, finally, after a lot of back and forth, a lot of angst, and things are finally going well. Then Pip drops a bombshell on her - he's going to Africa to further his medical training. Um, OK? Not really, but Dory's nothing if not patient and understanding. And when he comes back, he's changed. And things with his sister make things worse because Phillip doesn't approve of her new man. Sigh... Then boom, something tragic happens. And when I say tragic, I mean TRAGIC, th

Review: Lawbreaker (Unbreakable Book 3) by Kat Bastion with Stone Bastion

Review of Lawbreaker (Unbreakable Book 3) by Kat Bastion with Stone Bastion I remember falling in love with the Bastions' writing while reading Rule Breaker, and from reading Lawbreaker, I can see that their writing has only gotten better. Shay Morgan is a street-hardened, wise beyond her years young woman who's been breaking the law for years. Now, deciding to be legit, she's found a bartending job. But then Ben Bishop happens and she gets fired. Shrugging it off, and back on the streets, she knows she'll bounce back and find something else to get by. And then Ben Bishop happens to her again. But this time, it's different. And that difference changes her life. God, I just loved these two together. From Ben's grumpy but hiding a heart of gold facade to Shay's defiant but beautiful spirit, there was absolutely nothing about Lawbreaker that I didn't fall in love with. Ben and Shay are beautiful together. It's not often that an author can d

Review: Can't Get Over You Nicole Casey

Review of Can't Get Over You by Nicole Casey Blake and Malcolm's (Mal) brother and sister are in a tempestuous relationship and it colors every action that Blake and Mal have with each other. But there are more than familial hostilities between them, there's a latent attraction that they finally consummate while in college together. It doesn't mean they're in a relationship, though, as Blake makes clear when she blows Mal off after. And yet, she can't resist and she ends up not only in his bed again, but with a permanent reminder of their time together, a reminder she never tells him about. What happens when he turns up at her office, as her new boss?! Does she tell him her big secret? Or keep her secret and risk him finding out on his own and blowing up at her, never to forgive her? Normally, enemies to lovers and second chances are two of my favorite tropes, but I'm afraid neither trope was done very well in Can't Get Over You. There is all thi

Review: Draw You In: A Cape Van Buren Novella MK Meredith

Review of Draw You In: A Cape Van Buren Novella by MK Meredith Sage wants to preserve her grandfather's legacy - his newspaper. Parker wants to prove to his grandfather that he's the wunderkind everyone else says he is. Can these two make it work when his "saving" does exactly what Sage doesn't want - destroy her grandfather's legacy? I have to admit that while cute, Draw You In bored me to tears. I felt absolutely no connection with or between Parker and Sage. It may have been because this is part of a series that I've never read before, or it just might be that the novella length prevented the characters and the relationship from developing at an organic, natural pace. Either way, I was bored with this novella. I didn't hate it or anything, and it's not terribly written, it's just meh for my tastes. So 3 stars seems fair. Review: Ashton Scott by Nina Levine

Review of Ashton Scott by Nina Levine Holy hell, Ashton Scott is one hot alpha male!! Just for clarification, I originally read Ashton Scott as a newsletter serial that Nina sent to her subscribers. I fell in love with his cocky asshole self then, and reading his entire story in one sitting has made me fall in love with him all over again. Ashton is a bossy af, dominating businessman used to getting what he wants, how he wants, when he wants. Then he meets Lorelei and she brings him to his knees, as much as a dominating asshole like Ashton can be brought to his knees. Suddenly he's pining over a sassy, feisty woman who doesn't hesitate to put him in his place, one who doesn't kowtow to him or throw herself at him. What's a bossy, cocky alphahole to do when faced with a stubborn, sassy woman like Lorelei? Ashton tries to mow her over, but she's not having it. So he decides to seduce her instead. It sorta works. Well, it works, and she falls into bed with him
